Explosion-proof ultrasonic level meters are selected for compatible hazardous liquid storage when the buyer wants non-contact measurement and the vapor space remains suitable for acoustic measurement.
This product should not be treated as a universal hazardous-area solution. Heavy vapor, dense foam, pressure changes, condensation and high temperature can make ultrasonic unreliable even if the enclosure is hazardous-area rated.
WELK reviews both the measurement condition and the site safety requirement. The quotation should state whether the buyer needs explosion-proof enclosure, intrinsically safe signal, relay output, remote display or a specific document package.
For solvent tanks, fuel day tanks or chemical sumps, radar may be recommended if the ultrasonic echo path is likely to be unstable.
